eLearning accessibility services

Accessible eLearning designed for every learner.

We design and improve digital training to reduce barriers, strengthen keyboard and screen-reader usability, and support your organization’s WCAG and AODA accessibility requirements.

  • WCAG-informed development
  • AODA-focused improvements
  • Storyline and Rise accessibility

Experience the difference

Accessibility changes how a course works—not only how it looks.

We help organizations across Canada consider visual, auditory, keyboard and assistive-technology access throughout the eLearning experience.

A course-wide approach

Accessible learning depends on more than captions.

Strong accessibility considers how learners read, navigate, understand and interact with every part of a course. We bring those considerations into instructional design, Storyline or Rise development, media production and quality assurance.

Our approach

Accessibility is designed through the course—not bolted on after development is finished.

Course-wide checks
  1. 01

    Content and structure

Reading order, meaningful headings, plain language and useful alternative text.

  2. 02

    Interaction and keyboard access

Logical tab order, visible focus states and interactions that do not depend on a mouse.

  3. 03

    Visuals, audio and video

Colour contrast, readable layouts, captions, transcripts and alternatives for essential media.

  4. 04

    Technical testing and delivery

Screen-reader, keyboard and LMS testing across the final Storyline or Rise learning experience.

Accessibility remediation

Already have courses? We can improve what’s there.

Not every accessibility project requires a complete rebuild. We can review existing Storyline and Rise courses, identify barriers and make practical improvements to the learning experience.

  • Review source files and published course behaviour
  • Prioritize issues based on learner impact
  • Remediate, republish and test the updated course

Editable source files are best. If you only have a published SCORM package, we can assess what is possible before recommending the right path.

Accessibility testing and QA

Accessibility needs to work after publishing.

A course can appear correct inside the authoring tool and still create barriers in its final environment. We test the learner experience before delivery.

01

Navigate without a mouse

Review tab order, visible focus, controls and keyboard-only completion paths.

02

Review assistive-technology behaviour

Check reading order, labels, alternative text and screen-reader output where appropriate.

03

Test the published package

Verify Storyline or Rise output, course controls and behaviour inside the target LMS.

Testing scope varies by course, target standard, authoring tool and learner environment.

Frequently asked questions

Accessibility questions, answered.

Straightforward guidance about accessible eLearning development, course remediation, testing and what to expect from your project.

Have a different question?
01 What does accessible eLearning development include?

Accessible eLearning considers content structure, reading order, keyboard navigation, visible focus, colour contrast, alternative text, captions, transcripts and the behaviour of interactive controls.

The exact approach depends on the course, learner audience, authoring tool and accessibility target agreed upon for the project.

02 Can you improve an existing Storyline or Rise course?

Yes. We can review existing Articulate Storyline and Rise courses, identify accessibility barriers and improve the editable source files where practical.

We normally begin with a focused review so the priorities, effort and limitations are clear before remediation begins.

03 Which accessibility standards do you work toward?

Our work can be informed by agreed WCAG criteria and Canadian accessibility requirements such as AODA. We establish the target, testing scope and expected deliverables with your team before development starts.

Hiveminds provides design, development and testing support rather than legal certification or legal advice.

04 Can an accessible course still be interactive?

Absolutely. Accessibility does not mean stripping every interaction out of a course. It means choosing appropriate interaction patterns, providing clear instructions and ensuring learners have an accessible way to complete the experience.

In some cases, an interaction may need to be adjusted or paired with an accessible alternative.

05 What do you need to assess an existing course?

Editable Storyline or Rise source files are ideal, along with the published course, your accessibility requirements and details about the intended LMS and learner environment.

If you only have a published SCORM package, we can first determine what can reasonably be reviewed, repaired or recovered.
